Generate a methodology diagram for your paper

A methodology figure has to communicate a pipeline at a glance. Paper Banana starts with a structured brief — message, reading order, labels and venue — so the generated diagram is a usable first draft rather than a pretty guess.

Build a figure brief

In short

  • Paste your method text into the Brief Builder.
  • State the figure message, reading order and every required label.
  • Generate, then verify topology, arrows and spelling.
  • Treat AI figures as drafts that need human review before submission.

Write the figure brief

  1. Message: the one idea the figure must convey.
  2. Reading order: left to right, top to bottom, or a loop.
  3. Labels: the exact text of every box and arrow.
  4. Constraints: venue style, colour limits, single or double column.

Example brief

Brief
Message: our retrieval-augmented model grounds answers in retrieved passages. Reading order: left to right. Boxes: "User query" → "Retriever" → "Top-k passages" → "Generator" → "Grounded answer". Dashed arrow from "Grounded answer" back to "Retriever" labelled "feedback". Flat vector style, two muted colours, white background, single-column width.

Revise with a reference

Upload a rough sketch or an earlier figure to an image-to-image model, state what must remain and what should improve, then check every label and connection.
